What tide stores
When you use tide, the following information is created and stored on your device:
- Your goal (the reason you came to the app)
- Your stated reasons (your "what you want more of")
- Your selected hard things (situations that tend to set off heavy feelings)
- Your daily entries (mood, intensity, optional note)
- Your start date
- Your subscription status
This data is stored in your device's local storage. It is not transmitted to us. It is not transmitted to any third party. It does not leave your device.
If you delete the app, this data is deleted along with it. We have no way to recover it.
What tide does not store or transmit
- Your name (unless you enter it for personalization, which stays on-device)
- Your email address (we don't ask for one)
- Your phone number
- Your location
- Your contacts
- Your photos
- Your usage of other apps
- Any identifier that can link you to your real-world identity
Third parties
Tide uses two third-party services:
- RevenueCat handles subscription processing and verification. RevenueCat receives an anonymous identifier (generated by your device) and your subscription status. It does not receive your entries, your goals, or any other personal information. RevenueCat's privacy policy: https://www.revenuecat.com/privacy
- Apple App Store handles payment for subscriptions. Apple's payment system is the only place your billing information is processed. Tide does not see your card number, your name on the card, or your billing address. Apple's privacy policy: https://www.apple.com/privacy/
We do not use analytics services. We do not use crash reporting services. We do not use advertising networks. We do not use marketing automation tools.
Children
Tide is intended for adults (18+). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a person under 18 has used the app, contact us and we will explain how to delete their on-device data.
Your rights
Because we don't have a copy of your data, traditional "data subject rights" requests (access, deletion, portability) don't apply in the usual way. Your data is already in your possession. It's on your phone. You can:
- Delete it: delete the app from your phone
- Modify it: edit any field within the app
If you have a request that we genuinely cannot fulfill because we don't have your data, we will tell you so plainly.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the "Last updated" date above. If we ever start collecting personal data (we currently have no plans to), we will require you to actively consent before we do. We will not change this policy quietly.
Contact
For privacy questions, email support@mood-journal.com. A real person responds.
